Editorial Guidelines & Review Policy
How LaunchIndex curates, evaluates, and verifies developer tools, self-hosted software, and AI runtimes.
1. Our Editorial Mission
LaunchIndex exists to give developers and technical founders transparent, hype-free discovery of genuine software tools. We prioritize functional open-source projects, self-hosted alternatives, developer CLI utilities, and local AI engines.
2. Objective Telemetry & Listing Criteria
Every tool profile is constructed using objective, publicly verifiable technical parameters:
- Repository Health: Active commits, release tags, pull requests, and verified SPDX licensing.
- Deployment Feasibility: Dockerfile readiness, docker-compose configuration, and self-hosting documentation.
- Plain-English Utility: Clear explanations of what the software does, who it is for, and how it compares to legacy alternatives without marketing buzzwords.
3. Search Engine Integrity & Zero Paid PageRank Policy
LaunchIndex strictly complies with Google Search Essentials and Webmaster Guidelines. Paid launch packages (Discovery Pack, Category Spotlight, and Syndication) purchase editorial expedited review, social syndication, and prominent category visibility. LaunchIndex does not sell PageRank or participate in manipulative link schemes.
4. Community Upvote Verification & Anti-Sybil Controls
Weekly launch cohorts and leaderboard placements are governed by rate-limited voting systems, client telemetry checks, and anti-bot verification. Artificially inflated vote counts or script-driven activity results in disqualification from weekly awards.
